Traveling Home With Your Puppy

When you decide to you are going to pick up your puppy i would for one get a card board box and a blanket which you should ask the breeder to rub over your puppy mum and then you should put the blanket in the card board box so when you are driving home the puppy can feel safe in his card board box with the sent of his mother on his cosey blanket. I think this is a much nicer way of him traveling home than the puppy being held by a stranger who has just taken him away from his mother.

What To Do And Get For When Your Puppy Arrives Home

When you arrive home i would show your puppy around the home so he gets an idea of where he is and you should let him see where his water bowl is and where his bed is so he knows where to go if he wants a drink or a sleep. Now for your puppies bed i would suggest that you should buy a crate you puppy will prefer this just for the fist couple of months because in a crate it will make him feel more secure inside something rather than being out in the open and the crate is also good at night for when he needs to go to the toilette because he will not want to go to the toilet on his bed so on one side of the crate you can put news paper down for him to do it there which is easier for you in the morning when you have to clear it up that is if you buy a bigger enough crate.

Whimpering In The Night

When you her your puppy whimpering in the night the worst thing you can do is go down stairs and give it a cuddle and make Shaw hes ok because, if you do this then your dog will soon realize that if he whippers then you will come down. To give him attention or maybe even take him up to a nice comfy bed with his owner. So obviously your puppy is going to whipper for the first couple of nights because he will be missing his mum and his little brothers and sisters which he would normally cuddle up with at night time, so all you need to do for the first couple of nights is to not go to your puppy and just ignore him and he will learn that whispering is not going to help him with anything. But what you can do is to get a hot water bottle and wrap it under his blanket and this will make him think that it is his mum that he is next to because of the heat and the sent of his mum on the blancket .

Walking A Puppy

The rule is that for every 4 weeks of your puppys age you can add on 5 minutes to your walk so if but i think that your puppy espically if it is labrodore beacse of there hips do not take your puppy out for more than 7 minutes walks at a time, if he is under 13 weeks then after 12 weeks you can use the rule.

What adorable pictures!!!! I love the puppy sleeping! Your hub is full of great info. I have a 5 month old German Shepherd and what you're saying is spot on! Especially the whimpering in the night! Nice job :)
